This is the most important as well as the most special offering in this temple. This is also the most expensive offering in this temple. SHAISHYAM is the favourite offering of Sree Mahadeva. The belief among devotees is that anything is possible if you offer a SHAISHYAM to Sree Mahadeva and pray to Him. The literal meaning of the word SHAISHYAM is four substances taken 100 each in quantity. This refers to 100 naazhi rice, 100 ounce ghee, 100 coconuts’ milk and 100 plate jaggery, which is used to prepare the nivedyam.
The vazhipadu consists of doing Abhishekam for Sree Mahadeva using 100 pots of water from the jaladroni. After each 10 pots of Abhishekam, nivedyam is also offered.

The proceedings for this pooja start after the Deepaaradhana of the previous eve. This consists of 18 continuous poojas, including ETHIRTHA Pooja followed by PANTHEERADI pooja and UCHA pooja. After Ucha pooja, Sree Bhootha Bali will be done. This is done under the guidance of the Thanthri.
Here the mandapam is specially decorated and kalabham filled in a silver pot is brought in a holy manner and then Abhishekam is done to Sree Mahadeva. This is done under the guidance of Thanthri Nampoothiri.
Here Abhishekam is done to Sree Mahadeva and Sree Parvathy using various flowers. The SWAYAMBHOO lingam gets covered with flowers on this occasion. At this time, special pooja is also done. This offering is done at the evening DEEPAARAADHANA time.
These are done at the time of the temple festival (THIRUVUTSAVAM), for the welfare and prosperity of the family. This can be done by the devotees as an offering to Sree Mahadeva. Kodiyettu sadya consists of giving a feast to all the devotees on the noon of the Kodiyettu day. Utsava Bali is considered as the most important vazhipadu inside the temple during the festival. Here Sree Mahadeva and His disciples are given Bali along with the pooja. This is done under the strict guidance of the Thanthri.
